The Odyssey

Chad & I went out to dinner last night, a work thing. It was nice. I had a great meal. Nice conversation (most of which I don't remember because I am not a civil engineer and had no clue what they were talking about....).
I wore real clothes; no jeans or ponytail or baby-food smeared t-shirts. And I wore make-up, so you know it was a big deal for me to get out of the house!

But you know what we did before we went to dinner?
Oh no, it wasn't the cocktail hour everyone else went to before dinner.
We test drove a new car. Okay, well CAR is not really the right term, I suppose.
But I refuse to admit that I test drove a minivan.

I do NOT want a minivan. I always said I would NEVER have one. I would be the cool mom with 2 carseats crammed in the back of a Miata or something. But never, ever, ever would I have a minivan. I would, in my pre-mommy days, compromise safety & functionality for lookin' good.

Today though - I need storage, seat warmers & lots of cupholders (so the salesman wants me to believe).

Yea, yea. It's practical. I need the room for all the crap the kiddos drag around.
But a van? Seriously?

So, for 10 whole minutes, I sat behind the wheel of a brand new Honda Odyssey. As far as vans go, it wasn't bad. It was rather nice, actually.
It's just the mental hurdle of owning a minivan.
I just have to get over the fact that I am going to own a minivan. We'll buy one, sooner than later if Chad gets his way.

And I'm not even 30 (the minimum age I always thought was required before owning a VAN!).
And I don't need 17 cupholders (geesh - who needs that many cups anyhow???)
And I just don't want one, okay?

I'd much rather have a MiniCooper.

Girl, tell me about it. I still have a complex about our van...I'm only 25, for crying out loud. This is wrong on so many levels.

That being said, I LOVE it! I really do. There is so much room and it just makes life easier. Really, it does.
