Lessons on "Holding It"

If I had boys, that title would take on a whole new meaning, eh?

Cailyn is still in the potty-training business. A few weeks ago, she reverted back to Pull-Ups only. I couldn't get that child into big girl panties - not even with bribes of candy, mind you.
But this week is a different story.

She insists on wearing her big girl pants (because "diapers are for babies, Mommy!" all of a sudden). I welcome the change.

Yet, when we're outside playing, she can't quite hold it until we can make it in the house - you know, to sit on a proper potty. I even put a training potty in the garage - but she can't make it that far, either. When she's gotta go, she's gotta go. Right that second.

So, much to Chad's delight, I've taught her a little bit about the joys of living in the country. If you pop a squat in the yard, no one will notice. Scratch that, if you're under 3 feet tall and pop a squat in the yard, no one will notice. Unless that weird guy next door has binoculars. Or if the bright white shine from a never-tanned hiney makes a space shuttle fall from the heavens.

I have got to break this newly formed habit already. She drops her drawers in the middle of the driveway & waves to the neighbors, then proudly tells her grandparents that she used the bathroom outside & has grass on her butt.

In any event, we're making potty progress.
We went to the grocery store today. With no Pull-Up in sight. And she did fantastic!

Skye, she might be at home in China!!!! :) See if you can find any "kaidangku" on eBay. If not, you know what they are if you are ever on Jeopardy!

I saw tons of them there, and I just scratched my head the whole time. That, and the fact that no one sits down on ANY surface without lining it with newspaper (with all the crotchless kiddie pants and the spitting/loogie hocking...)

...Yet Skye doesn't approve of me going pee in the back yard by the deck where no once can see me, not even the weird fish guy neighbor.
