Our Great Post-Christmas Meltdown

Wow. I didn't realize it's been so long since I updated and posted pictures. We have been so incredibly busy. I love Christmas, but the entire month of December is so insane for us. Birthdays, the Holidays, trying to sneak in a little R&R while Chad's on vacation...it wipes us out!

Her is Carys, a week or so before Christmas. We bought her a trunk full of Princess gear, and she LOVES it! I think we have a dress-up tea party at least once a day.
On Friday, we made cookies for Santa...but Santa never got to taste them. My little munchkin hid in the kitchen cabinets & ate them ALL! Where was I? Oh, I was around. I didn't notice one cookie missing at a time. The whole plate gone? Yea, I caught on.Here we are, in the final stages of making a cake for our get together on Christmas day.
And Carys already knows that licking the beaters in the BEST part!!!
Christmas was great. Carys still wasn't as excited as I thought she would be. Maybe next year ;)
Here we are, checking out Carys' loot. I think everything had been opened at this point because Carys is actually looking at a gift, and not saying "Next!" while trying to open someone else's gift.
(Oh - and, as promised, I do not have any pictures online of any other family member. Just Memaw's legs, decked out in her Holiday socks.)

A brief word about this pictures, folks. I thought it would be a great idea to take a picture of the girls, all dolled up in the pretty Christmas frocks...it was a splendid idea.

Until Carys decided to give her sister a little Christmas boo-boo. She pushed her. Not once. But twice. And all so quickly that I couldn't even get to Cailyn to help her. She had a nasty bump on her head, and a little scrape. A little bit of ice and cuddling made it all better. It was quite a scare though. Poor Cai. She had a rough week. Last Monday, she got her pinky finger trapped in the hinge of the double-stroller. Freak accident, but it scared me to death! I just know she had taken off the tip of her finger. It was mangled and she was screaming. But, she's alright.
I could handle a little break from the boo-boos though. Seriously. If you know me well, you know that I have had visions of Kitchen Aid stand mixers dancing in my head for a few years now. Ahhhh. I knew what was in the big box all along; well, I hoped I knew what was in the big box. And I was right!!!
Say hello to my new friend, Dolly.
Why Dolly? I have no idea. But when you hear me say: "Dolly & I made a cake today", you'll know I'm talking about my new best friend. The girls got a new swing set. Santa's Little Helper (aka Chad) started on last Friday & finished it up yesterday. Carys was so excited. So loves her "big girl slide."
Carys wasn't very happy about giving her old swing to Cailyn. And Cailyn didn't seem very excited about it either. In time, I guess....
Sorry Carys is so blurry - it's hard to capture the joy of a 3-year-old whizzing down a wave slide.

And that's it for now. I have a lot to do. Cleaning. And de-Christmasing the house. I'm sure I'll be vacuuming Douglas Fir needles for months to come.
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! And in case I don't get the chance to tell you later, HAPPY NEW YEAR, too! :)
