First day complete

I picked Carys up from school, right on time. She was waiting for me, hugs & kisses. Her teacher had this look on her face - so I asked how it went.

Teacher: Um, she went to the bathroom SIX times today. Six. Is that normal?
Me: Well, no. But I think she's just excited and she likes to check out bathrooms at new places.
Teacher: Okay...well, can you talk to her about that?

So later, I ask her how her day went. She said, "Grrrreat!"
Me: Did you have fun?
Carys: Oh yes. I had a lot of fun.
Me: What did you do?
Carys: Played with my friends....and went to the bathroom.

Really?!?! No kidding. I'm surprised she remembered anything else besides going to the bathroom.

I'm told she behaved very well, but kept telling Mrs. Angela that she was hungry. (Imagine that!) I warned her it would be different than hanging out with Mom and getting a snack when she wanted it.
She even tried to trade with a girl in her class - she wanted the girls Dora yogurt. But she didn't win the trade. She had to settle for blue Scooby Doo applesauce that Mom packed. Geesh. The lunchbox battles begin.

Mrs. Angela also told me that Carys had an accident right before I came.
Her seat was wet. Her butt was wet. Grrreat, I thought.
Come to find out, she didn't finish her juicebox & put it back in her lunchbox when she was done with her lunch. Yikes - I didn't even think about that conversation.
We repeated all the way home: "juiceboxes go in the trash, not in my backpack!"

Talk about a mess! There was a puddle of juice in the bottom of the van that I promptly removed. And a puddle in the bottom of her new backpack, which is receiving its very first washing as we speak. Sticky, sticky.

So, I plan to fill her with as much breakfast as she can hold in the morning, and make sure she understands that bathroom breaks are not so much fun when the whole class has to be interrupted to go with you. (No kidding - they ALL have to go so everyone stays together.)

She does want to go back tomorrow - which I take as very good sign.

Six trips...is she related to Zan?!?! LOL!! Every year I have to talk to him about his daily visits to the restroom. And yeah, you need to make sure you have a school day reminder about the juice...not very fun at all!!!
