Cooking with my girlies

Chad is away tonight with "Mountain Man Jake" (as Carys refers to him) at the NCSU football game. So the girls and I have had a fun-filled evening of playing, chatting & cooking dinner. Carys has been interested in cooking for a while now - she even says she wants to be a chef when she grows up. She's been begging us for an Easy Bake Oven for her birthday. It arrived via UPS a couple of weeks ago, and it's been killing me not to break it out and give it to her - I know she's going to flip out when she unwraps it on her birthday in a few weeks.

She asked me if she could help make dinner, and then she wanted to bake cupcakes. So we decided (the girls decided for me) that we should make a mini-meal. After thinking about what we could make, we landed on mini-hamburgers and mini-fries.

They had a blast! Carys was interested in making the burger patties, until she saw the "oozy red juice" in the bottom of the meat package. She decided that part was disgusting!!! and I had to make them all by myself! Can you imagine that!?! She did help me with the fries, but just barely. Had I known them "helping" me cook this meal would turn into such a chore, I would have scrapped the idea from the beginning. But they had fun regardless, so that's the best part.

They assembled the tiny burgers with condiments and pickles, and made sure everyone had ample ketchup on their plates. My little waitresses...

I love cooking with the kids. Can imagine hamburgers aren't the most appetizing to make.
Love the girls matching dresses and Carys' Wal-mart sticker :)
